Fade Fernando’s Picks from God 8.21.2020
Howdy and welcome back to another edition of Fade Fernando’s Picks from God. We’ve added some new readers the last few weeks so I would like to reiterate that I started this as a complete joke. I am a horrendous sports gambler and I specifically tell my readers to “fade” my picks. Hence the name: “Fade Fernando’s Picks from God.” While I may apply sound reasoning, the picks rarely fall my way.
That being said, the blind squirrel finds the nut every once in a while. Last week the picks went 2-1 which brings our record to 5-9 the last 4 weeks. In fact, one of my good friends was the beneficiary of said luck as he took home some nice cash in a 4 –team parlay last Friday. Check out this winning ticket:
Let’s see if we can repeat the magic this week. Without further ado, here are the infamous Fade Fernando Picks from God.
Phillies v. Braves Under 8.5
Aaron Nola and Max Fried have been absolutely terrific this season and this should be a great pitcher’s duel. Neither team has had much success against either of these starters so don’t over think this one.
Los Angeles Clippers v. Dallas Mavericks (+5)
Had the Clippers not had the refs as their 6th man in game 1 the Mavs would be up 2-0 in this series. The Mavs cruised to a game 2 victory by 13 points even though star Luka Doncic only played 28 minutes due to foul trouble. The Mavs have consistently outplayed the Clippers thus far and while I don’t see the Mavs outright winning game 3, I am fairly confident they cover the 5 point spread. Paul George has once again proven he is one of the least clutch players in the NBA and Pat Beverly is listed as doubtful for game 3. The Mavs should keep this one close.
Chicago White Sox vs. Chicago Cubs (-105)
Jon Lester and the Cubs are getting great odds at home in this battle of cross-town rivals and I say take em. Jonny boy has put together another great season thus far as he is 2-0 with a 2.74 season to begin the year. While it is a very small sample size, the Cubs offense has fared well against White Sox starter Dallas Keuchel. The White Sox are playing great baseball as of late as they are the winners of their past 7 games, however you gotta love the odds they are giving Lester in this one.
Denver Nuggets vs. Utah Jazz (+1.5)
This is arguably the most exciting playoff series to watch as these teams are about as evenly matched as they come. However, the Jazz looked fantastic last time out and they return starting guard Mike Conley. Donovan Mitchell has played lights out the last 2 times out and should benefit from Conley’s return. Public is taking the Nuggets, God is taking the Jazz. Wouldn’t be the first time the public went against our good Lord.
Bonus Pick: Tommy Fleetwood Top 10 Finish (+275)
For those who love value, here is a solid choice. Fleetwood is just a model of consistency. Great iron play allows him to always have a chance at the trophy on Sunday.
