Picks from God 1.9.21
Howdy and welcome back to another edition of the infamous Picks from God. While America is on the brink of a Civil War, the Picks are reminiscent of Sherman’s March to Atlanta: Burning everything in its path. This money train is 15-11 the past 3 weeks and we show no signs of stopping. Like the U.S. capitol, we’re also on fire. So without further ado, here are the infamous Picks from God.
Saturday January 9
Indianapolis Colts at Buffalo Bills (-6.5)
No chance we’re rolling with playoff Phillip Rivers. Old man Rivers has about as many playoff losses as he has children. First playoff game in Buffalo in years should have the Bills energized and this is one of the hottest teams in the league. The Bills come in to this one having won 6 games and QB Josh Allen has played himself into the MVP conversation. Take the Bills.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers (-8) at Washington Football Team
Honestly, I dislike this pick. Yes, Washington is terrible. But, I’m getting flashbacks to 2010 when the Seattle Seahawks limped into the playoffs with 7 wins and knocked off Drew Brees and the Saints at home. Nevertheless, you have to take Tom and his bounty of offensive playmakers. The Bucs can beat you in so many different ways. In addition, they have one of the best defenses in the league that should match up well against a weak Redskins offense. Take TOMpa Bay.
NCAA Men’s Basketball
Alabama (-5) at Auburn
Auburn lost to Texas A&M last weekend. Roll Tide.
Tennessee (-10.5) at Texas A&M
Tennessee is the best team in the SEC and Texas A&M’s record (6-3) does not accurately reflect their talent level. This isn’t football. Take the Vols.
Oklahoma at Kansas (-7)
This Kansas team is tough to figure out but you’re obligated to bet them every time they step foot inside Allen Fieldhouse.
Kentucky (+4.5) at Florida
Kentucky started the season 1-6 but has reeled off back to back victories. They’ll get Keion Brooks Jr. back from injury and the Wildcats should keep this one competitive. Florida is also without their star forward Keyontae Johnson.
Gonzaga (-32.5) at Portland
I will bet the Zags the rest of the year and you should too. If you haven’t watched this Gonzaga team play basketball, please do. It’s a thing of beauty.
UCLA at Arizona (-3)
UCLA is without Chris Smith and will face an Arizona team that was on a roll until Thursday’s loss to USC.
Sunday January 10
Baltimore Ravens (-3) at Tennessee Titans
I’m not a fan of betting on road teams, but it’s tough to beat a good NFL team twice. The Titans barely squeaked past the Ravens earlier this season. However, that was before Lamar Jackson and the Ravens found their groove offensively. This is a different Baltimore team and I think they change the narrative this postseason.
Chicago Bears at New Orleans Saints (-10)
The biggest mismatch of the game has to be the Saints’ defense against the Bears’ offense. I think the Saints win by a couple touchdowns in the Big Easy.
Monday January 11
Ohio State at Alabama (-8) AND OVER 75 POINTS
Trying to predict this game has kept me up for several nights. Since Week 2, I have said this is one of the best Alabama teams of the Saban era. They are just so good offensively. Yes, Ohio State played a fantastic football game last week against Clemson. Unfortunately for the Buckeyes, this is just a different Alabama team. This is one of those games where it’s going to be close the entire time and if you’re betting this game, you will be sweating. However, I think Bama is just too talented offensively. College football has evolved where good offense now beats good defense. I think we see a 52-40 or so shootout with Bama covering and the over hitting.
As always, thanks for reading. Hope everyone has a great weekend.
